On paper, this is the restaurant of an Austrian supermarket chain, hardly a promising recommendation, and you'd be forgiven for not making it top of your list. But the news that Meinl has won a raft of prizes in the last few years should pique the interests of gastronomic adventurers. It's not cheap, but if you want to splash out, Meinl's is one of your best bets. The restaurant is famous for many reasons, not least the sumptuous view over the Graben. But this is matched by the quality of the cooking itself, which blends Mediterranean influences with local panache. Last but by no means least is the wide-ranging wine list, which offers a host of intriguing ways to bankrupt yourself.
