Swarovski Heiress In Kidnap Shock

Austria's most glamourous couple were under police protection last night after a brazen kidnapping plot emerged. Fiona Swarovski, focus of the plot and millionaire heiress to her family's glass empire, is now in hiding at an undisclosed location in the Alps, along with her husband, finance minister Karl-Heinz Grasser.

A Romanian inmate of Innsbruck's prison spilt the beans on the alleged scheme. According to his statement, he had been invited to take part in what was to be a multi-million pound ransom bid. Documents detailing the alarm systems of the Swarovski's house have been discovered, but police are wary of releasing too many details at this stage.

Austrian police are now working at breakneck speed to track down to the rest of the gang. It remains unclear whether Mr Grasser was also under target, but the couple will remain under protection for the immediate future.
