Prisoner Parcelled to Freedom

A Bosnian burglar was on the run last night after an audacious escape from a prison near Graz. Muradif Hasanbegovic, 36, had himself wrapped in a parcel in order to make good his escape. It is believed that he had several accomplices.

Mr. Hasanbegovic's daily routine involved wrapping lamppost parts for postage. He managed to have himself shrink-wrapped in one particular parcel, and it is understood that fellow inmates placed him on the delivery truck on top of the other packages.

Not long after the truck had left the prison gates, Mr. Hasanbegovic ripped a hole in his package and leapt from the vehicle. It was not until some time later that the driver noticed that something was amiss.

AHN reported that Franz Hochstrasser, the prison's warden, arrived at the following conclusion: "This sort of thing was not supposed to happen. Guards need to count prisoners at the end of working hours. We are investigating the case."

As of yet there has been no word of Mr. Hasanbegovic's whereabouts. Furthermore, it is not known whether there was 'a third man', waiting to collect the convict after breaching the prison gates. Technically, Mr. Hasanbegovic was not due for release until 2012.
