Snow Takes Tragic Toll

Unexpected snowfalls throughout Central Europe claimed a terrible toll in Austria on Tuesday.

Over seventy vehicles were involved in a pile-up on the motorway between Vienna and Salzburg.

One lady has been confirmed dead, whilst dozens of people have been injured, at least six with serious complaints.

Helicopters attempted to make emergency landings but many had to turn back owing to the treacherous conditions.

Tuesday's accident is the first serious incident on this particular stretch of road. Hospitals have been placed on standby across the region.
