Vienna Airport

|
Vienna airport will be many travellers' first taste of Austria. Like the capital itself, the airport's a surprisingly unhurried place where liberal quantities of coffee and cake take precedence over other pressing engagements. Located 18 kilometres southeast of the city (near the town of Schwechat), the airport can be accessed in a variety of ways. Vienna Airportlines Buses runs a service to and from Schwedenplatz every half hour. Alternatively, catch the CAT (City Airport Train) which is linked to Vienna's Landstrasse (Wien Mitte) station. Finally, a door to door taxi service from central Vienna will cost around 25-30 euros, with a duration of about fifteen minutes. |

Taxis seem pretty expensive if you just pick one up from the airport. Best to arrange one online in advance - at least 30 percent cheaper, I'd say. Airport itself is clean and functional.
