Naturally enough, Wien Westbahnhof is the key station for travellers heading west to Salzburg, Munich, Frankfurt, Zurich and beyond. Unless you're carrying an elephant in your suitcase, getting here is simple enough. The Westbahnhof is complemented by its own U-Bahn station, which lies on both the orange U3 and the brown U6 lines. You can also jump on a tram to Europaplatz or take the S-Bahn train in from further out west. Alongside the Sudbahnhof, this ranks as one of the key Viennese stations. Trains leave Westbahnhof for as faraway destinations as France and Belgium.

I got the train to here from Poland, and after the scruffy stations (and trains) there, it was a great relief to get to somewhere clean and efficient. Still, I prefer Poland (dirty but interesting) to this (clean but boring) !!

Nice, clean train station, and the trains seem to always be on time.
