The Sudbahnhof is Vienna's biggest railway station, and there are plans to convert it into an even larger enterprise, linking it with the nearby U-Bahn stop Sudtirolerplatz. A lot of international railway traffic funnels through this station, including connections to Bratislava and Krakow. Although a super slick modern edifice is in the pipeline, the present building is a rather unglamorous 50s number. If you're hunting for last minute souvenirs, you'll find one or two handy shops with edible/drinkable presents. And there are also one or two restaurants where you can grab a bite before the train departs. If you're travelling light, the walk to Sudtiroler Platz is not too tricky, but with heavy baggage it will be a mission.
