*Wienna Sudbahnof has mostly closed as part of a restructuring of the city's transit system. The info below reflects the station as it was when it was open. For updates, please see details here OBB info*

The Sudbahnhof was Vienna's biggest railway station, and there are plans to convert it into an even larger enterprise, linking it with the nearby U-Bahn stop Sudtirolerplatz. A lot of international railway traffic funnels through this station, including connections to Bratislava and Krakow. Although a super slick modern edifice is in the pipeline, the present building is a rather unglamorous 50s number. If you're hunting for last minute souvenirs, you'll find one or two handy shops with edible/drinkable presents. And there are also one or two restaurants where you can grab a bite before the train departs. If you're travelling light, the walk to Sudtiroler Platz is not too tricky, but with heavy baggage it will be a mission.

Wien Sudbahnhof

Short and inexpensive bus ride from Vienna Airport. Easy to find train and gate. Short walk to old Vienna shops, pubs, cafes, etc. Across street from Prinz Eugen Hotel. I'll miss it.
