If you want to deck yourself out like a walrus-moustachioed burgermeister or a Julie Christie lookalike, then Loden Plankl holds the keys to the lederhosen kingdom. This old school shop is a mecca for all those in search of some serious Trachten - they stock a dizzying array of outfits for both ladies and gents. The shop has existed on this very spot since 1830 and as such the service is a tad on the glacial side. But if it's quality you're after, you'll have to endure such snootiness. That said, one crucial question remains - will your purchase still look stylish once you've vamoosed from these alpine lands? Manic Street Preachers guitarist Nicky Wire would answer with a resounding yes - he regularly sports tracht jackets when he's out on the town....

"This store carries the best of the best top quality merchandise. When living in Vienna for several months, my husband and I shopped here frequently and have bought men's jackets and shirts and ladies jackets, coats, sweaters, hats, scarves and my other items. Please note that I have used the pleural in all cases. I expect to be wearing these items forever. I would take a trip back to Vienna just to shop at Loden Plankl."
