Lobmeyr

Many Viennese sigh at the mention of Karntner Strasse. 'It used to be such an elegant street' they say. But whilst this lively thoroughfare may have gone a tad down the Oxford Street route, it's hardly louche Las Vegas. At Lobmeyr you'll encounter the old face of Karntner Strasse. This distinguished glass-making firm used to be a supplier to the imperial court, and big names such as Josef Hoffmann created designs for the company. Lobmeyr is still a family firm, and this being Vienna, some of the staff are a tad on the snooty side. Up on the top floor you'll find a museum of their dazzling back catalogue.
