The Sacher enjoyed its greatest fame during the era of the formidable Anna Sacher (1859-1930) a cigar-chomping legend who won over Europe's aristocracy. Her legions of pugs led a princely life, and she was in fact on intimate terms with many bona fide princes. The golden age may have passed but the Sacher is still top of its game, and if you have the cash to splash, a memorable stay is on the cards. The hotel continues to add new feathers to its cap, with an entire new floor opening in 2005. For a show-stopping view over the city, book a suite on the top level. Stunning.

Hotel Sacher

This hotel is really incredible - and incredibly expensive as well! A great location for a romantic weekend. Leave the kids at home!
