Hotel AltStadt Vienna

|
The Altstadt Hotel (Old City Hotel) may sound like a fairly predictable place, but don't be fooled by the plain name. This is a decidedly quirky number in an equally quirky district. Individuality is the key here, and each of the 38 rooms is a little world unto itself. Sleek modern touches sit side by side with nostalgic nuggets - not every combination works, but the overall experience is a lot more interesting than many hotels of a similar price. The building itself is just over a century old, and it was highly original at the time. The mansion was a showcase for a famed Viennese industrialist. New rooms have recently been added by Italian designer Matteo Thun. |
