Carlton Opera Hotel

|
Shimmy over to Schikanedergasse for a mid-range offering that has much to recommend it. The Carlton Opera isn't overflowing with luxury, but it makes for a reliable base in central town. Many art deco features have been preserved, and the guest rooms themselves are simply but pleasantly furnished. In this case the Opera tag isn't just a clever ruse to bag tourists. The street is named after Herr Schikaneder himself, famed librettist for Mozart's 'The Magic Flute' which premiered here in Vienna in 1791. The grand opera house itself is indeed just a short stroll away if you want to sample a dash of musical magic. |
